Gold Spike Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas

Gold Spike Hotel and Casino is a 112 room, seven floor hotel located in downtown Las Vegas.

It originally opened in 1976 as the Rendezvous. In 1983 Jackie Gaughan purchased the property after it had been closed for several months.

On Dec 6, 2002 Gaughan and Barrick Gaming signed an AGREEMENT OF PURCHASE AND SALE to sell the Gold Spike and three other casinos. Barrick Gaming Corp was in partnership with Tamares Group. After the purchase management discontinued the table games and only offered slot machines. In a few years the property was offered for sale.

On 23 July 2007 Greg Covin bought the property for $15.6 Million with the original intention of turning it into a boutique hotel. He sold it on 4 Feb 2008 for $21 million to The Siegel Group.

As of September 2008 half the casino was remodeled, with the other half planning to be opened by the end of December. The casino is seeking licensing to get table games added back to the casino.

The Siegel Group also purchased the adjacent property for $5m and is seeking approval to join the two properties. The adjacent building has the distinction of having a Las Vegas Boulevard address.
